Bali.. Bali.. Bali... Trust me you cannot get enough of this place... Its a sheer beauty!! So before you go to this place there are a few questions you need to ask yourself... 1) What is it exactly you wanna do in Bali?? is it just relax at the beach, just drink, Try local food, admire the Balinese cultures, visit temples, look at the architecture, just relax at the spa?? what exactly is it YOU wanna do? 2) Once you decide the above, next we come to deciding where in Bali you wanna stay? So you must know that Bali has many popular areas where you could possibly stay.Have a look at the map below.

3) Before you freeze on the location above decide how many days are you going to be able to spend at the gorgeous place. Once you decided that and frozen on the location in Bali please scroll down.

THE NO. 1 LOCATION WE SUGGEST IS - UBUD

  • The must stay place in Bali. Its located in the centre of Bali and is very easy to get to from the airport.Generally if you book a hotel in Ubud or for that matter anywhere in Bali, you will be picked up and chauffeur driven to the hotel/resort/villa. However you can also get buses and taxis. Buses cost you around 50,000 IDR (Rs.250/-) and taxis around 125,000 IDR (Rs.650 - 700/-).

  • STAY - There are umpteen number of villas and resorts and hotels to spoil you. How many ever times we've gone back, we still have a problem deciding on where to stay. Just a tip - While deciding on the hotel always book it well in advance and book it either from www.bookings.com or from www.makemytrip.com or www.trivago.com - you will always land up saving a lot! However bookings.com generally have the best deals. I personally love the following villas and hotels namely Villa padma, Kupu Kupu Barong, Alaya resort and spa, Blue Karma, Goya resorts, Kayumanis etc. We however stayed at Villa padma and at Blue Karma. It was simply brilliant.

  • Once you land at the airport, you will be picked up by the resort folks itself so you really need not worry.

  • The hospitality in BALI is simply mind blowing. If your someone who loves being pampered and spoilt, trust me this is THE place to be!!

  • EXPLORING UBUD

  12. For good veggie food - Paradiso Ubud

  14. Tegenungan Waterfall - Read my detailed review of this place in my other post.

  15. The rice terraces

  16. Make sure you drink the Balinese coffee if your a coffee lover like me :)

Please read my detailed review of each place in my other post - All about Ubud!!

Tip for Indians - Make sure you either carry dollars or Euro. this was you land up getting you more IDR's. So in case you can get your hands on dollars or euros it would definitely be helpful and beneficial. SEMINYAK and KUTA DIARIES: We spent a good two days at Kuta before we headed to UBUD. We stayed at The Awan Villas, Batu beli, Bali. I have no words to express how spectacular the villa was.(http://www.baliawanvillas.com).

I loved the stay at this place, it was luxury at its best :). Loved each and every moment spent here. However the food was not at all nice :( we are veggies so it was extremely difficult to get anything at all in veg at the villa. With great difficulty we managed to convince them for some veg food which was pathetic. For my detailed review on this place please click on the below link :).

So coming to "WHY SEMINYAK and KUTA and WHAT TO DO HERE"?

  1. Go for a luxury spa massage - You heard it right! You have just an overload of spas at every nook and corner of Kuta. SO what are you waiting for? We crashed at the Cleopatra spa just opposite our villa. I think it was the most perfect decision we ever made. Brilliant service and a wide range of services to chose from and to spoil yourself. We spent around 6,00,000 IDR for the two of us and chose the 'Island of the Gods' massage which was just so relaxing i cannot explain all i can say is HEAVEN ON EARTH.

  2. Go shopping - we went shopping to Seminyak square and I went crazy. I bought so many dresses. The whole place was so colorful and vibrant. You can bargain nicely and just shop to your hearts content. So as we stayed at the awan villas they even provided us with a facility of dropping us to the market like they have a service of dropping their guests one way to wherever they want to go. So we saved a lotta bucks that way.

  3. Go to the beach - Whichever part of bali u stay at ull definitely have a beach. So i don't really need to give you a review on this. We went to echo beach and the seminyak beach both were very peaceful with very limited visitors. So we enjoyed each others company thoroughly and enjoyed the vast fresh waters.

  4. Eat street food - The food on the roads are so much more yummier than any hotel food. They charge you a lot lesser and the foods extremely tasty. We requested them for veg food where we got fried rice. It was delicious. Just NO EGG NO FISH coz in bali fish is veg.

  5. Candle light dinner - Get lost in each other like we did. We had a brilliant candle light dinner at the L hotel (at the roof top). There we even witnessed a cooking show that the chef was putting up. It was nice and romantic.

  6. Visit the flea market - As i mentioned earlier with regard to shopping you can definitely visit the Flea market. Lotta variety and you ll go crazy with so much to shop from. But you cannot bargain a lot here.

  7. Biasa artspace - We decided to go to UBUD Angung Rai museum of art so we just had a glimpse from outside.

  8. Road side shopping - We walked the street straight from our villa. The street had dominoes to start off with. We survived on this. Yummy and so Cheap. So we had a sumptuous meal at Dominoes and then walked back to our villa and on the way we had so much to see. We even wanted to buy a hammock but we found it so expensive so we din't.There is so much art also everywhere. So basically there shopping and food all over.

So we visited stayed only at these two locations but we took a private car and a driver and visited the Tanah lot temple, did water-sports activities with the Aditya Water sports (nusa dus), Went to uluwatu temple, visited a few rice terraces and just had a brilliant day out. The driver was very nice and sweet and spoke decent English and took us to a few markets and places even without us telling him to do so.

The gorgeous, beautiful and scenic Tanah Lot.

We wanted to go there for Sunset and We managed to get a glimpse of it. Cant tell you how happy we were to see the gorgeous sight. A capture of the same :)

General Tip: You can find a lot of money changers all around Bali so please don't try to exchange all your currency at the airport. Exchange a bit and then try smaller money changers around Bali, they'll give you better deals :)
