In continuation of my earlier post.. These are my personal favorites in UBUD. I love art and jewelry but San does not but, after visiting the Angung Rai museum of art, he was awestruck too. So here goes my suggestion for 'Things to do in UBUD.
Things to do in UBUD- BALI
Sacred Monkey forest- Its a very cute place especially if you are fond of animals and monkeys. Crazy number of them all around you. You have locals selling you bananas to feed these monkeys and you can use guides to take you around. Please be a bit careful. The best time to visit this place is early in the morning where you will have lesser crowds welcoming you. You can have monkeys climbing on your shoulder and you can feed them. This personally was one of the coolest moments in my life. (I was too scared to take a picture lol. but i wished i had. The entry fee to this place is only 40,000 IDR which is around Rs. 200/-. Very reasonable and extremely worth it.
Tips - Keep your camera always ready to get a great shot of the monkeys.
(we did not carry ours though)
Try taking a local as a guide.
Try not to accessorize too much when you visit this place.
Finally be nice and take care of yourself and the monkeys.
Mt Batur- Trek up to see the active volcano. - We went there for the morning sunrise. I cannot explain the sheer joy of seeing the sunrise. It gave us the goosebumps.. Beautiful, Peaceful and Serene. You ll have to pass by a village and then get to the sunrise point. There are plenty of tours that give you this but what we did was we hired a private car and a driver for the whole day.So he knew the way to Mt. Batur and from there we trekked up on our own with some maps. He ll charge you around 6,00,000 IDR (Rs 3,000) for the entire day. Isn't that worth it? Trust me you don't have to worry at all because you ll have many people with guides just follow them in case your lost. On the way back after seeing the sunrise have coffee. Its really wonderful to sip that hot coffee.I would not say the treks easy but its definitely worth it. You ll keep bumping into locals trying to sell you stuff and It may get really crowded ( it did when we went). But guys please don miss this place at any cost.
Tips - Wear warm clothes if your the one who gets too cold often (like me)
Take torches if you hire a private car (like us). If your going on the organised tours they ll
provide the torches.
Wear shoes.
Carry your own food if you like(we are pure veg so, we made ourselves sandwiches from the
hotel and carried it with us.
Try not to accessorize too much when you visit this place.
Taking your own private car and trekking up by yourself is the best and the cheapest.
Landmark from our end - Pura Payogan Temple.
House of Masks - Its also called drama house and its a museum. Brilliant display of different styles and cultures. You should visit this place just for a different experience and for great photos. Its mainly for those into art and culture (like me) :) Entry is free.

Reptile and Bird Park and the Bali Zoo - This place has an exotic collection of birds and just nearby you have the reptile park. San enjoyed this place but i am so much into reptiles. The birds were beautiful i swear. In the month of May when we visited this place it was very hot which added to the attitude toward the park :( plus the prices i.e the entry fee is quite high. So i guess it is an OK place to go unless your a bird lover!! You can also get a chance to get the birds on your shoulder. but i had done the same thing in Dubai so it was not very exciting for me!!.
If your into art - Angung Rai museum of art - Jalan raya, Pengosekan - So in the afternoon when it was hot outside we visited this place. Huge and beautiful art place and quite peaceful too(not to many people). You ll fall in love with this place if your into art like me!! It shows you the brilliant traditional Balinese architecture. You will be surrounded by crazy art work. The entry fee is 80,000 IDR (which is just Rs. 400/-). There is a cafe too if you get hungry but they also give you a drink.
The UBUD Royal palace- We din find this place very interesting. Its free entry so very very crowded. Nothing extraordinary. Just around 5-7 mins from the art museum.

River side dining - by four seasons (My personal favorite) - I'm not going to give you any advice about this place. Please visit this place and just enjoy a romantic dinner with your husband/bf . Loved the experience.
Ubud art market - Please visit this place. Its simply breathtaking. For getting back as soveniers you have such cute things here. the paintings, the boxes, bags, the vases and en number of things you can think off. So much to grab and you can bargain well. They ll try selling it to you at a higher rate but please bargain. Its Bali personified at this place. You ll have to walk a lot and compare prices from different shops and then buy.
For good veggie food - Paradiso Ubud - Its a theater cum VEGGIE restaurant so we were extremely excited to go to this place.I ate the nachos and the veggie burger and San had Tofu basil spring roll and the tofu cheese sandwich. Delicious for veg food in BALI. Totally it costed us around Rs 1500/-. So if you really wanna have great organic veg food pls do visit this place.
You can find jewelry shops where you can watch them make your jewelry.
Tegenungan Waterfall - Read my detailed review of this place in my other post.
The rice terraces- I really don't have to give any reviews for the beautiful rice terraces that are there in Bali. Please go and experience it yourself.

Make sure you drink the Balinese coffee if your a coffee lover like me :)

This was taken on our way:) from the car.
