Tegenungan Waterfall - A secret escape from the crowds of Bali!
Location - Ubud (Bali)
This is one hell of a beautiful waterfall that is actually not known to many who visit Bali. However its gaining its popularity due to many tour guides bringing most tourists to this fall.
When u visit Bali there are many tour operators that offer to see this waterfall with various other places. However I would suggest that you go to this location on your own preferably early in the morning at around 7am. Its so peaceful and quiet and so much less crowded. You can also combine this with another waterfall located very near to this falls called the - Kanto Lampo falls, the view on the way is completely worth it and it takes only about 20-25 mins to get there. There's hardly any crowd here at Tegenungan at 7am in the morning and you can relax to your hearts content with the sound of the falling water and the singing of the birds. Please note you have to descend a lotta steps before you actually get to dance under this waterfall.
Other info:
1) Parking- There's a large parking area/space and also good washrooms available at the loaction. However please be prepared to pay for each and everything you use.
2) Entrance fee - 10,000 IDR (INR- 50/- approx)
3) Shopping - a lot of souvenir shops which sell bikinis, skirts, dresses etc are available to spoil you. You ll have small little kids coming up to you and selling you stuff.
4) Food - Ice cream shops, Tender coconut shops, quick bites all available - between 20,000 - 30,000 IDR (INR -100 - 200/-)
5) Clothing - No place to change as such at the waterfall but, you could use the washrooms above (before you descend all the steps) to change to your swim wear/ bikinis.
6) GPRS - please do not rely on it.
7) Driving using own vehicle - Would not recommend. Better to hire a personal car.
8) Carrying money and other valuables - at your own risk as there's absolutely no place where you can keep valuables near the waterfall. You ll have to leave your bags on the small rocks that are there in front of the waterfall if your planning to take a dip.
My personal suggestion would be to hire a car and a driver as they are extremely cheap and charge you as low as 6,00,000 IDR for entire day. (INR-3000/- / 43$) and you can cover whatever locations you would like to see. They know in and out of even the small streets of Bali and so will use a lot of shortcuts which will not only save time but you will end up seeing more places than you thought you could cover.

Overall a great escape from the crowds of Bali!
